All’s Well That Ends Well
We arrived home safely on Sunday November 25, after travelling 21,138.5 kilometres(13134.8 miles), passing through 6 provinces and 28 states, and averaging 18 liters/100 km (13 mpg). This was better than we expected, and was about $1000.00 less than we had budgeted for. Lowest gas price in the States was $3.26 per gallon in Wyoming and the most expensive was $4.44 per gallon in Southern California. Even at that, it was still cheaper than anywhere in Canada.
Highlights? Too many to mention, but certainly the Balloon Fiesta and ride, the Grand Canyon, Gettysburg, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Cape Breton, Biosphere 2 and Arizona and New Mexico in general. It may sound too good to be true, but in all of our time in the States, we did not meet one person who was anything but friendly, welcoming, helpful and generous. We saw a lot of wonderful things and met a lot of wonderful people, and managed to stay sane and married through it all!
What does the future hold? A bit bigger motorhome, a trip to the Northwest Territories and Yukon, a return to the Grand Canyon, a return to Southern California and hopefully to Baja California to see the whales in the Sea of Cortez, and some camping trips with our two granddaughters. After that, who knows? Whatever we do, I’ll try to maintain this blog as a memory.
