Wawa Gets Goosed; The Best-Laid Plans…
We were on the road by 6:30 this morning, knowing that we had an 8-hour drive ahead of us, not including several stops. Our first planned stop, at the Terry Fox Memorial just east of Thunder Bay, was aborted, partly because the weather was rainy and partly because the sun wasn’t even up yet! We had a couple of gas stops along the way, and eventually reached Wawa for the requisite picture with the Wawa goose:
Our next stop was at Agawa, where we had a brief chat with Laura’s parents, spent too much money, and filled the tank for the remaining 80 km to Sault St. Marie. We had planned to spend the day on Mackinaw Island in Michigan, but the weather forecast looks pretty cool and wet, so we decided to cancel that, and will spend the day here kicking back and enjoying the facilities. Tonight we are going to a theatre across the road to see “The Butler”.
On Wednesday morning, we will head for Manitoulin Island and camp at South Bay as planned, before catching the ferry to Tobermory on Thursday morning, hopefully arriving at the cottage around 5:00 or so.
